What a price!

So I run out of ink on New Year's Eve, and my local office supply store - let's call it, "Thumbtacks" - is of course closed for the holiday. Irritated, I decide to price the cartridges on Amazon. (This is a new printer, and this is the first time I'd needed a new cartridge.) I was blown away by the price difference. We're talking more than $20 cheaper here, for the exact same product. At Thumbtacks it's $32 for ONE cartridge and $57 for a 2-pack.

I've owned many printers, but this is my first Brother. I'm really pleased with this ink. I am an artist and often use printouts in my art, and one of the best things about this black ink is that it is very water-resistant once printed. This the only printer I've ever owned that has that quality. With most printers the slightest drop of water washes the ink right off the page, but this stuff stays put. (The colors do run, though.)

Thumbtacks dropped the ball on this one. (It's New Year's Eve. See what I did there?) My advice? Definitely buy this ink here. As an added bonus, take your empty cartridges to Thumbtacks and they'll give you $3 in store credit for each one.

By the way, it's not listed here, but I have a Brother MFC-5890. This is the correct ink for that model.

This is the original ink, no surprises here. Works as it should, stick with the high yield over the std ones.

Quick finish

I thought that these finished quite quickly. I put all of the colors in at the same time and so far all I've done is print checks and I am already on my second black ink while the coloreds are still going strong.
